Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vice-captain Venkatesh Iyer recently spoke about his captain, Ajinkya Rahane, and the leadership qualities he brings to the team. In a special segment on JioHotstar’s Gen Bold, Iyer praised Rahane’s calm and composed nature, especially under pressure. According to Iyer, every captain has a unique approach, and Rahane’s is marked by patience and steady thinking.

In the 2024 season, Venkatesh Iyer was a crucial part of KKR’s success, scoring 370 runs, including four half-centuries. His performance played a big role in their victorious campaign, leading the team to buy him back at the 2025 IPL mega-auction for INR 23.75 crore. Ajinkya Rahane, a seasoned IPL batter with over 4500 runs, was picked for INR 1.5 crore, marking his return to the Kolkata franchise.
With two centuries and 31 half-centuries to his name, Rahane brings experience and leadership. His best IPL score is an unbeaten 105. He has previously scored over 500 runs in two IPL seasons for the Rajasthan Royals and also captained Mumbai to victory in the 2022-23 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The KKR squad, under Rahane’s leadership, includes a strong mix of experienced and young players, ready for a competitive season.
