The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured a dramatic 2-wicket victory over the Mumbai Indians (MI)in Match 54 of IPL 2026 on May 10. In a pulsating encounter at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur, RCB chased down a target of 167 on the final ball of the match, officially knocking Mumbai Indians out of the playoff race.

After winning the toss and electing to field, RCBโ€™s veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivered an absolute masterclass. He dismantled Mumbaiโ€™s top order early, finishing with exceptional figures of 4/23 in his four overs.

Despite the early collapse, Mumbai managed a recovery through a resilient 82-run partnership between Tilak Varma (57 off 42) and Naman Dhir (47 off 32). However, the RCB death bowlers kept their cool, restricting Mumbai to a total of 166/7.

The chase for Bengaluru began in a nightmare fashion as they lost Virat Kohli for a golden duck and Rajat Patidar for just 8 runs. The Mumbai bowling attack, led by Corbin Bosch (4/26) and Deepak Chahar (2/33), left RCB reeling at one stage.

However, Krunal Pandya played the innings of his life. Despite battling severe cramps, Krunal hammered 73 runs off 46 balls, featuring 4 boundaries and 5 massive sixes, to keep the chase alive.

The game reached its peak in the final over, where RCB required 10 runs for victory. After a tense exchange, it was Bhuvneshwar Kumar who became the unlikely hero with the bat. Following his four-wicket haul, โ€œBhuviโ€ remained calm and struck a crucial six, eventually sealing the win for Bengaluru on the very last ball.

This victory propelled RCB to the top of the points table, while Mumbai Indiansโ€™ disappointing campaign came to a formal end.
