The Delhi Capitals (DC) scripted history at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Friday, May 1, by completing their highest-ever successful run-chase in the IPL, defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) by seven wickets. Chasing a daunting target of 226, Delhi’s batting unit displayed clinical precision to overhaul the total with five balls to spare.
This victory not only ended a three-match losing streak for the Capitals but also marked their fourth win of the IPL 2026 season, further intensifying the race for the playoffs. Earlier, Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag won the toss and elected to bat first on a high-scoring Jaipur surface.
Despite losing openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi within the first two overs, Parag led from the front with a masterful 90 off 50 balls, featuring eight boundaries and five sixes. He found a steady partner in Dhruv Jurel, who contributed a vital 42 off 30 deliveries.
The real fireworks, however, came from Donovan Ferreira, who bludgeoned an unbeaten 47 off just 14 balls*, including six towering maximums, propelling RR to a massive 225/6. For Delhi, Mitchell Starcwas the standout bowler, returning from injury to claim 3/40.

Nissanka And Rahul Power Delhi With 110-Run Opening Stand
Delhi’s response was spectacular from the outset as openers Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahuldismantled the Royals’ bowling attack with a 110-run partnership in less than ten overs. Nissanka was the primary aggressor, smashing 62 off 33 balls, while Rahul anchored the chase with a sublime 75 off 40 deliveries, including six fours and five sixes.
Although Ravindra Jadeja provided a breakthrough by removing Nissanka, and Jofra Archereventually dismissed Rahul, the momentum remained with the visitors. Nitish Rana played a crucial cameo of 33 off 17 balls to keep the required rate under control.
In the final stages, Tristan Stubbs (18)* and Ashutosh Sharma (25)* remained composed to ensure there were no late hiccups. Ashutosh finished the game in the final over, guiding DC to a total of 226/3in 19.1 overs.
KL Rahul was rightfully named the Player of the Match for his match-winning captain’s knock, which also saw him reclaim the Orange Cap. For Rajasthan, it was a tough night at home as their bowlers, including Tushar Deshpande and Nandre Burger, struggled to contain the relentless onslaught from the Delhi batters.
