Yesterday it was all about the batting genius of RCB, AB de Villiers. When the match of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders was hanging in the balance De Villiers for his side produced a batting masterclass. On a tricky Sharjah pitch, the South African made it look easy and completely took the match away from KKR.
Batting at number 4, de Villiers smashed an unbeaten 73 from mere 33 balls and his knock included 5 fours and six maximums. Post his freakish knock social media was in awe of the range of hitting AB de Villiers showcased and electrified the iconic Sharjah cricket stadium.
Ab de Villiers the game in these trying times need you – Ravi Shastri
The Indian head coach Ravi Shastri took to Twitter and wrote that international cricket in these trying times needs a player like de Villiers back again.
“Now, that the penny has dropped. What one saw last night was unreal. And the feeling is the same waking up. @ABdeVilliers17, the game in these trying times or otherwise needs you back in the international arena and out of retirement. The game will be better off,” Shastri tweeted.

Meanwhile, De Villiers retired from international cricket in May 2018 which shocked the entire cricketing world. He decided to hang his boots at a time when he was at the peak of his powers that dominated in all formats of the game.
Once AB de Villiers left, South African cricket has never been the same again. The Proteas who was once the number 1 Test side in the world lost to Sri Lanka and England at home in the last few years. Even in the cricket world cup last year they failed to qualify for the semis and it proved to be a disastrous campaign for them.
Earlier this year when the buzz was that AB de Villiers is keen to play the T20 world cup in Australia in November. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event got postponed till next year.
Furthermore, it will be interesting to see if de Villiers indeed decides to come out of retirement and once again play for South Africa in international cricket. As of now he’s fully committed to playing in the IPL for RCB and in the ongoing season, he has looked in cracking form which is a major positive for Virat Kohli’s side.
