IRE vs IND: [WATCH] Jasprit Bumrah Strikes Twice In The First Over Of His Comeback Match

Pacer Jasprit Bumrah has made a dramatic comeback to Team India in the first T20I against Ireland on Friday, August 18 at Malahide Cricket Club, Dublin. He struck twice in his first over in international cricket, after being sidelined for 11 months due to a recurring back injury. His over got India off to a flying start in the three-match T20I series.

Jasprit Bumrah is leading the Indian team in the ongoing series against Ireland in Hardik Pandya’s absence. He made an immediate impact on his return to the team. Bowling the first over of the match, the pacer sent Andrew Balbirnie and Lorcan Tucker back to the pavilion cheaply.

Balbirnie slammed Bumrah for a boundary to kick off the proceedings. However, he was dismissed the following delivery. The Indian skipper bowled a length delivery outside off stump. The ball swung back into the right-hander. It took the inside edge of Andrew Balbirnie’s bat and knocked off the bails. The Irish openers had to walk back to the pavilion for just four runs.

Bumrah struck again the over, dismissing Lorcan Tucker for a duck. The pacer bowled a full delivery which again swung back into Tucker, who tried to ramp the ball over the wicket-keeper. However, he could manage just a faint edge that lobbed right into the hands of the wicket-keeper Sanju Samson.

Very happy to be back: Jasprit Bumrah

Speaking at the toss in his comeback match, Bumrah expressed that he is looking forward to the opportunity. He said,

“I feel good, looking forward to play some cricket. You realise what you were missing, very happy to be back.”

Jasprit Bumrah has been India’s premier bowler across formats. He has taken 128 Test wickets, 121 ODI wickets and 70 T20I wickets for India. He will be key to India’s success in the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023.
