The journey for Team India head coach Rahul Dravid as coach hasn’t been an easy one so far. Dravid has worked with five different Indian captains in the last eight months. It’s a very difficult task as coach to maintain that coordination and keep all captains on the same page regarding their plans for upcoming events.

Dravid said that due to COVID, India had five different captains in the last eight months. The former India captain said, “Probably been 6 captains in the last 8 months that I have had to work it. Which wasn’t the plan when I first started. But it is the nature of COVID, the nature of the number of games we play, it is about managing the workload of the squad.”

Dravid called it challenging as well as fun to work with different people who brought different mindset. “Few changes in captaincy means I have had to work with quite a few people over the last few months which in itself has been challenging but great fun too,” Dravid added.

Rahul Dravid feels that this will help in creating different leaders within the Indian team. The Indian head coach said, “It’s good a lot of guys have got to lead the team and given us the opportunity to create leaders in the group”.

Ace all-rounder Hardik Pandya would lead the Indian T20I team in the T20I series in Ireland. The Men in Blue will play two T20Is in Dublin, starting June 26.

“South African tour has been the disappointing one” – Rahul Dravid

Rahul Dravid revealed that the South African tour has been the most disappointing result for him as coach. Dravid said that the team is trying to get better with each game.

“We have constantly strived to get better, we have tried a lot of different people. In the last eight months, touring South Africa was a bit of a disappointment in terms of Test cricket,” Rahul Dravid added.

The Indian Coach was also delighted with the pool of fast Bowlers Indian cricket team has now. Dravid said, “It was incredible to see the fast bowling talent we have (during the IPL), especially with few of the bowlers clocking such (fast) speed. A lot of youngsters got an opportunity to showcase their skills, and a lot of them came good, those are really good signs for Indian cricket, exciting times ahead.”
