‘It Was A Special Experience Interacting With MS Dhoni The First Time’ – CSK New Recruits

The fresh faces of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) talked candidly about their interactions with MS Dhoni and the advice he gave them ahead of IPL 2023. In the league phase of IPL 2022, the Chennai Super Kings had a dismal season, placing ninth out of a field of 10 teams. In 14 games, the MS Dhoni-led team managed to win just four, lose ten, and earn eight points.

Prior to the start of the season, Dhoni resigned as captain, and Ravindra Jadeja assumed control. However, the all-rounder left in the middle of the campaign, giving Dhoni the captaincy back.

The team will be aiming to challenge the title once more after making some wise additions during the IPL 2023 auction. The all-around player for England, Ben Stokes, cost them a fortune—16 points, 25 crores. At the same time, Kyle Jamieson ($1 crore), Nishant Sindhu ($60 lakh), Ajinkya Rahane ($50 lakh), Bhagath Verma ($20 lakh), Ajay Mandal ($20 lakh), and Shaik Rasheed ($20 lakh) were all added.

CSK will begin their campaign against Gujarat Titans

New hires talked about working with Dhoni during training prior to IPL 2023. The CSK captain was Rasheed and Ajay’s idol, and he was revered by many cricketers worldwide.

In a statement to the CSK media team, Ajay said, “Actually, it was a special experience interacting with MS Dhoni the first time I came here to Chepauk for practice. I merely asked him for some bowling advice during the nets session, and he replied, “You can do this and that. I had just met him when we had that conversation.”

Rasheed continued, “Mahi told me ‘Hi’. It held a special meaning for me. He and I first exchanged words on the bus and the ground, respectively. Do whatever you know, Mahi bhai said. To the best of my abilities, he requested of me.”

Ajay, a 27-year-old cricketer, competes for Chattisgarh in domestic competition. In 2022, Rasheed and India won the U-19 World Cup. On March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. CSK kicks off their season against the defending champion Gujarat Titans.
