Seven members from England cricket have been tested positive for Covid-19. There are a total of three players and fours staff members who have been affected by the virus. Former England captain Nasser Hussain believes there will be big Chaos at ECB headquarters after this incident.
England is scheduled to play a white-ball series against Pakistan. The series is all set to start on July 8. However, after getting tested positive for covid, players have been ordered for self-isolation. Also, the players who were in contact with affected players will have to self-isolate. Meanwhile, apart from cricketers, all the staff members have been ordered for isolation to stop the virus to spread any further.
Due to this virus spread, ECB has to select a completely new team of 16 members. The new squad will be soon announced by ECB. However, the captain has already been announced which is none other than star all-rounder Ben Stokes.
While Talking on Sky Sports, Nasser Hussain asserted :
“It will cause chaos. They will have to pick a completely different squad- that 16 players and the backroom staff and coaches ruled out. They will have to pull the bulk of those players out of county cricket.
There’s a round of County Championship games going on now and all those counties will have to replace those players and get them tested. The players pulled out will have to get to Cardiff and get tested to enter the bubble. So it will be absolute chaos at ECB towers right now.”
The ECB can confirm that seven members of the England Men's ODI party have tested positive for COVID-19.

Even after the covid outbreak inside the bubble, Hussain has lauded the ECB for managing things properly for the last 1+ years.
They had to ease that bubble slightly: Nasser Hussain
Recently English cricket board permitted fans to enter the stadium and enjoy the games live. Spectators were allowed in the recent white ball series between England and Sri Lanka. Also, the hard restrictions on players were little eased out. Nasser Hussain also opined that ECB has to ease the restrictions to support cricketers’ mental health.
“They had to ease that bubble slightly, the cricketers have been going around the world in bubbles and just for the sake of their mental health – when they turn up to the ground and see normal society out there, doing things and being relaxed slightly. That’s what they had to do with their players.” – Nasser Hussain
Reportedly the series between England and Pakistan will begin on the scheduled date; July 8 in Cardiff. England and Wales cricket board (ECB) will include several country players in the squad for the series.
