Team India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal expressed that it’s an honour to play alongside senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. His incredible knock powered Team India to a convincing win in the second T20I against Afghanistan on Sunday, January 14 at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. They won the match by six wickets chasing 173 runs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed 68 runs from 34 deliveries with five boundaries and six sixes. India lost a quick wicket, losing Rohit Sharma for a duck. However, the partnership between Virat Kohli and Jaiswal took India forward. Shivam Dube also scored a fifty in the innings, his second consecutive in the series. India chased down the total comfortably, taking an unassailable lead of 2-0.

Talking about his performance, Yashasvi Jaiswal said to BCCI,

“I enjoyed batting and the pitch too was very good. It was a decent target for us to chase, so my focus was on giving the team a good start and continuing to produce runs.”

“It’s always a pleasure to play with Virat bhaiya, it’s an honour. We were having conversations on where and what shots we can play on this wicket,” he added.

Incredible to have a senior like Rohit Sharma: Yashasvi Jaiswal

Team India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal also hailed skipper Rohit Sharma. He expressed that Rohit allows the players the freedom to play their shots, and always has their back. He added that it’s incredible to have a senior player like him in the Indian dressing room. Yashasvi Jaiswal said,

“He (Rohit) says go and play freely, the shots you have. He is always there and looks after us. I think it’s incredible if you have a senior like him (in the team).”

The final T20I between India and Afghanistan is set to take place on Wednesday, January 17 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The match will be a dead rubber as India has taken a 2-0 lead in the series.
