Jason Roy Ruled Out Of The T20I Series Against Pakistan

Star England batsman Jason Roy will miss the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan owing to a left side strain. Meanwhile, the three-match series will begin on August 28 (Friday) at the Old Trafford in Manchester.

Incidentally, Roy sustained an injury earlier this week during training leading to the series. He underwent a scan on Wednesday and will now miss the entire series. However, he will continue to remain with the England set-up.

Meanwhile, it will be a massive blow for Jason Roy, who was looking for a long run after a poor patch of performances with the bat. He has been out of touch since the Pakistan Super League earlier this year.

The swashbuckling batsman, who played a significant role during the World Cup-winning campaign last year, also had a poor run against Ireland. He registered scores of 24, nought and one in the three ODIs against Ireland. Roy continued to struggle for form in the recent Bob Willis Trophy fixture against Hampshire at Arundel, where he got out for four and 14.

England will now have to revamp their top-order. Tom Banton looks in line to partner Jonny Bairstow at the top of the order. However, ECB has not revealed whether Jason Roy will be available for selection for the Australia series to follow.

The star batter is also a part of the Delhi Capitals in the upcoming IPL starting from September 19 in the UAE. Delhi will following the developments keenly as Roy is a key part to their plan as they chase their maiden IPL trophy.
