Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah sustained a stress fracture in his lower back ahead of the Test series against the Proteas. This made him far from the game, thus bringing Umesh Yadav as his replacement. However, the recent developments on his injury suggest that he will not be back anytime soon in the Indian colors.
Bumrah might be back in action only for the ODI series against the Kangaroos in mid-January. This means that he will not be a part of the series against Bangladesh, West Indies, and Sri Lanka.
He spent some time in the UK for the treatment. Reports suggest that he is currently undergoing Rehabilitation to be at his brutal best as soon as possible.
An unknown source was quoted saying to the New Indian Express that, “His rehabilitation is going along expected lines. Stress fractures are complicated to deal with, but since it was spotted on time and Bumrah got adequate rest, there is nothing serious. The Bangladesh Tests are still a month away and he will be fit by then. But there are important assignments next year. The idea is to make it smooth for Bumrah. When he is back, he should be at his absolute best.”
Bumrah and his rise
Right from his debut in 2016, Bumrah has proved himself as one of the most integral parts of the team. His rankings even suggest the same.
He is the top-ranked bowler in ODI’s whereas third in the longest format of the game. The current trends would mean that Bumrha is expected to join the side right before the all-format away tour of New Zealand.
