The Indian pace bowling attack has been absolutely lethal in the past few years under the leadership of Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli. Almost every year, we are seeing new fast bowlers rise up and show their class either in the IPL or in the Ranji Trophy.

Players like Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, and T Natarajan among many are pacers who we know for sure will be getting opportunities at the international level sooner rather than later. Jasprit Bumrah is the lead bowler of the Indian fast bowling attack and has been the go-to bowler for his team whenever required.

However, Bumrah hasn’t looked quite lethal both for Mumbai Indians as well as for Team India in the limited-overs format. Even though he has been economical and has troubled the batsman a lot but he has been unable to take those crucial wickets at the crucial stages which he was very well known for.

Former Pakistan cricketer Aaqib Javed made a bold statement regarding the debate about Jasprit Bumrah and Shaheen Afridi, claiming that the former isn’t as aggressive as Shaheen. Speaking on Paktv.tv, said:

“Shaheen’s graph is on the rise, while Bumrah is stable. He has less threatening performances than Shaheen, whether it’s in T20s, ODIs, or in Tests. And the rise of Pakistan cricket largely has depended on performances from Shaheen, Haris Rauf, Shadab Khan, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan.”

Haris Rauf’s average bowling speed is the fastest in the world – Aaqib Javed

Javed said that Bumrah is less aggressive on the field and is always smiling after a wicket falls or after a dropped catch. Aaqib Javed further stated batters relish this kind of body language that eases out the pressure.

“The way Haris Rauf has bowled in the last few years, his average bowling speed is the fastest in the world. And the aggression he has, the way he runs, the batsman knows that the bowler is running towards him, but Bumrah isn’t that aggressive. And people enjoy these kinds of bowlers who have such body language,” Javed added.

Both Jasprit Bumrah and Shaheen After are among the best in the fast bowling business in the world right now and are still pretty young. They have a bright future ahead and would be looking to be the leading wicket-takers for their respective teams.
