Jasprit Bumrah has given Team India a perfect start in the morning session of the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. He bowled the fullish line and reaped rewards removing Australia opener Joe Burns early for a duck.

Meanwhile, the Aussies went with an unchanged XI for the 2nd Test while India made a couple of changes. They handed debut caps to Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj while Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja made their way into the playing XI. On the other hand, they were missing the service of regular skipper Virat Kohli and senior paceman Mohammed Shami, who is out of the entire series with a fractured arm.

Put to bowl first on day 1 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, India needed to make a good start coming on the back of an eight-wicket drubbing in Adelaide. And who better than Jasprit Bumrah to deliver the goods. It was another delivery in that fourth-stump channel by Bumrah, jagging away off the seam, something Burns should’ve looked to leave.

But he pokes well in front of his body thanks to Jasprit Bumrah’s angle that was coming wide of the crease. On his way to wicket-keeper, the ball the kissed the outside of the bat with Rishabh Pant doing the rest which will be a confidence booster for him. In his ten ball stay, Joe Burns poked at two, drove aimlessly at one and clearly looked shaky and the wicket was on the cards.

India will hope to keep up the momentum and pick a couple of more wickets in the morning session to put Australia on the back foot as they look to level terms in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
