India’s pace ace Jasprit Bumrah revealed that England fast bowler Jofra Archer had reached out to him during his injury rehabilitation. Bumrah, 31, expressed his delight at seeing Archer return to Test cricket and mentioned that the two have shared several conversations over time.
He also shared his mindset during tough phases, saying he reminded himself that he has just one career and that there would be plenty of time to rest after retirement.
“You only have one career and after your career, you will always have time to relax, I always motivate myself like that. During the injury phase he (Archer) messaged me and we had a lot of converstaions, I am really happy that he has gotten back to Test cricket, a format that he loves,” he told Sony Sports Network on Saturday, July 12 (via Times of India).
Both Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer have faced significant injury setbacks in their careers. Bumrah sustained a back injury during India’s 2024–25 tour of Australia, which ruled him out of the ICC Champions Trophy and led the Indian team management to adopt a more cautious approach to his workload across formats.
Similarly, Archer has dealt with recurring injuries and is making his return to Test cricket after four years in the ongoing match at Lord’s. He made an immediate impact by dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal in his very first over.
Bumrah Claims Five-Wicket Haul At Lord’s
Jasprit Bumrah made a strong return to the playing XI at Lord’s after being rested for the Edgbaston Test. He announced his comeback in style with a five-wicket haul, earning a place on the prestigious honours board. This was his second five-for of the series, having achieved a similar feat in the opening Test at Leeds.
The Lord’s performance also saw him surpass Kapil Dev for the most five-wicket hauls by an Indian fast bowler in overseas Tests. At the latest update, India were 231 for 3 in the 62nd over, with KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant at the crease, trailing England by 156 runs.
