“Back your strengths and believe” – Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan earned the Player of the Match award for his impressive 77-run innings. Speaking at the post-match presentation, he mentioned that he focused on backing his natural strengths while also putting in effort to improve his off-side play.

He further stated that defeating Pakistan would give the team a significant confidence boost heading into the upcoming matches. He said [as quoted by ESPNcricinfo]:

“The pitch wasn’t that easy, so I just believed in my strengths and focused on watching the ball. I’ve worked hard on my off-side game and aimed to find gaps and rotate strike, knowing 160–170 would be a good total.”

“India-Pakistan is always special. Beating them boosts our confidence. Bumrah and Hardik were outstanding — Jassi is brilliant with the new ball and at the death, and Hardik executed his plans perfectly.”
