Marnus Labuschagne‘s tenure as the No. 1 batter in the England. He has come to an end, thanks to veteran Joe Root No.1 Test batter according to the most recent ICC rankings.
In December of last year, Labuschagne assumed the title of top-ranked batter in the world for men’s Test cricket, holding it for just over six months.
He hasn’t been in great shape lately with the willow. In the meantime, Root has maintained excellent contact.
Root scored his 30th century in red-ball cricket for England in the recently finished first Ashes 2023 Test at Edgbaston. He surpassed Sir Don Bradman’s total of 29 Test tons.
Root scored 46 in the second inning after scoring 118 runs without being dismissed in the first. However, since Australia won the Test by two wickets, the efforts were in vain.
In contrast, Labuschagne struggled in both innings, recording scores of 0 and 13 to drop to third place.
Kane Williamson (883), an experienced New Zealand batter, has climbed two spots to take over second place.
Travis Head (873) dropped one spot to fourth place and Steve Smith (861) fell four spots to sixth among other batters who participated in the first Ashes Test.
Usman Khawaja (836) scored 141 and 65 at Edgbaston and was named Player of the Match. He has risen to a career-high Test ranking of seventh.

Harry Brook, a young English batter, climbed five spots to take 13th place (701).
According to the ICC Test rankings, Ravichandran Ashwin continues to be the best bowler
When it comes to men’s Test bowling rankings, veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin continues to hold the top spot (860).
He is followed by England’s James Anderson (829), who managed just one wicket at Edgbaston.
Rishabh Pant, the captain Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli are the top three Indians in that order.
While Australia’s captain Pat Cummins (824), who took four wickets in the first Ashes 2023 Test against England, is in fourth place.
South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada (825) moved up one spot to third.

Ollie Robinson of England (802), Nathan Lyon (799) of Australia, and experienced English paceman Stuart Broad (765), all of whom are in the top ten. They are in fifth through sixth places, respectively.
Moeen Ali, an off-spinner who came out of Test retirement for the Ashes, is ranked 52nd among bowlers in the ICC Men’s Test rankings.
