Joe Root Makes His Pick Among Most Complete Batsman in World Cricket

England red-ball skipper Joe Root is count among the Fab-4 of this generation. The other three include Virat Kohli, Steve Smith and Kane Williamson. They have been the most consistent scored in all three formats in recent times. However, the England red-ball skipper has made his pick for the most complete format across all formats. Root recently played in the Test series against West Indies which they won amid the pandemic.

Meanwhile, during a conversation with ESPN Cricinfo, Joe Root revealed his choice for the most complete batsman in recent times. He picked Virat Kohli as his choice adding that he has ‘the weight of India on his shoulders’.

“Virat is probably the most complete player out of the three of them (Steve Smith, Kane Williamson and Virat Kohli) across formats. His ability to chase things down in the limited-overs format and to pace it as well as he does as often as he does and be not out at the end is extraordinary. He’s got a very good all-round game but you wouldn’t say he’s weaker against spin or pace,” Joe Root told ESPNCricinfo.

Kohli, at the moment, is in the UAE playing in the IPL for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. His tea is placed third in the points table with 14 points and almost sure of a place in the IPL 2020 playoffs.

Kohli, at 31 has hit a staggering 70 centuries and 104 half-centuries in international cricket. With 43 tons to his name, he is second in the list of most centuries in ODIs. Also, he is the only player to average 50 across all three formats.

Kohli has been incredibly consistent since the IPL 2016 season. he scored 973 runs in that season, which is the most runs scored by any player in one season of the tournament. Kohli also crossed 5000 runs in the IPL for Royal ChallengersBangalore. He is the only player to play for RCB across 13 seasons in the IPL.
