Indian Premier League (IPL) has been the breeding platform for cricketers across the globe. Star cricketers look forward to taking part in the T20 blitz solely based on the competition and challenge it posses. As we wait for the 13th edition, it is a difficult task to pick a XI considering many legendary cricketers have graced the tournament. Recently, veteran all-rounder, JP Duminy sat down to pick his all-time IPL XI.
The Proteas cricketer, who has represented for a couple of franchise, had the luxury with many cricketers. The globetrotter, although didn’t follow the four overseas and seven Indian rule, but took many by shock with startling picks.
No MS Dhoni in the all-time IPL XI of JP Duminy
JP Duminy went with the devastating opener from West Indies Chris Gayle as an opener for his all-time IPL XI. The King XI Punjab star will be joined by another former Punjab star Adam Gilchrist at the top. The ever-consistent Indian duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli follow next in the batting order. Duminy also picked Kohli as his spinner which surprised many considering his records.
Countrymen AB de Villiers, who has taken the world by storm with his 360-degree batting completes the batting chart. Duminy then went with two all-rounders from the Caribbean – Keiron Pollard and Andre Russell to strike the balance. While Pollard has been making his presence count for quite a few years now, Russell set the stage on fire last year with his blistering batting.
Brett Lee, Muttiah Muralitharan, Lasith Malinga, and Imran Tahir will complete the XI. While Malinga is the highest wicket-taker in the competition, Tahir has also left a long-lasting impression. Meanwhile, JP Duminy snubbed the likes of MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina in his all-time IPL XI which rang a few surprises among the fans.
