Justin Greaves’ Double Ton Not Enough As West Indies Drop To Last In WTC Table

Justin Greaves

Justin Greaves

Justin Greaves delivered a memorable performance for the West Indies in the first Test against New Zealand in Christchurch, hammering an unbeaten double-century that played a key role in securing a dramatic draw for his team.

Despite this gritty effort, the result did not help them rise in the current World Test Championship (WTC) standings. After playing six matches in this cycle — which include five losses and only this single draw — West Indies now find themselves slipping to the very bottom of the table. Their Points Percentage (PCT) has dropped to a concerning 5.56, showing how tough this campaign has been for them so far.

New Zealand Take a Small Step Up the Ladder

New Zealand, on the other hand, have just begun their journey in this year’s WTC competition. Even though they could not force a win in the opening Test, the draw still worked in their favor. Having played only one match in this cycle, they managed to move into seventh place on the points table with a PCT of 33.33. This gives them a more stable position as they aim to build momentum and push further up the rankings in the matches ahead.

Australia Lead the Pack, Followed Closely by South Africa and Sri Lanka

At the top of the table stands the Australian cricket team, continuing an impressive run with four victories in four matches. Their perfect record has earned them a flawless 100% PCT, placing them comfortably ahead of the competition and making them strong early contenders for the WTC final spot.

South Africa and Sri Lanka currently occupy second and third positions respectively, showcasing strong performances in their own campaigns. Meanwhile, Pakistan and India are positioned in fourth and fifth place as they remain firmly in the race, aiming to climb higher as the tournament progresses and more matches unfold.
