Veteran Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal has showered heaps of praise on Team India opener Rohit Sharma. The swashbuckling batsman has been a force to reckon with ever since MS Dhoni promoted him to the top-order.
Rohit has been in his elements since then. The batting prowess from Mumbai has been a nightmare for the bowlers in the limited-overs. Once he is set and hitting the ball, there is no stopping Rohit Sharma. The Team India vice-captain made the World Cup in 2019 his own striking five centuries; the most by any cricketer in a single edition.
Kamran Akmal praises Rohit Sharma
Kamran Akmal recently admitted that he found Rohit Sharma amazing during the World Cup. He also spoke highly of his temperament, timing, and commitment for the game. Meanwhile, Akmal was expressing his views in a YouTube show for Cric Cast.
“Amazing, unbelievable batsman. The kind of joy you get while watching him bat is immense. His timing, temperament, and commitment towards batting is just unbelievable. Scoring 200s, 150s is very tough. He has two double hundreds I guess (Rohit has three). And look at the recent World Cup, he scored five centuries,” Kamran said.
“He can hit boundaries with such grace, can rotate the strike with singles too. The biggest plus point is his power hitting, he can hit big shots and sixes. Youngsters, who want to learn the art of batting, should watch him, Babar Azam, Virat Kohli,” Kamran added.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma suffered a calf injury during the New Zealand tour and recently had stated that he was ready to play again before the lockdown started. However, Rohit will have to undergo a fitness test before he makes a return to the side.
On the other hand, Kamran Akmal fell off the radar of the national side in recent times with his last game coming in 2017. He has amassed 6,800 runs with 11 centuries and 27 half-centuries at the highest level for Pakistan.
