Kane Williamson Set To Return For The 3rd ODI Against India

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson is all set to return to action for the third and final ODI of the series against India on February 11 (Tuesday) at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. He will return to take over the leadership from Tom Latham as the Kiwis look to clean sweep the ODIs after a 0-5 loss in the T20Is.

Meanwhile, Williamson has been out of action since the third T20 in Hamilton on January 29 when he suffered a shoulder injury while fielding. Tim Southee led the side in the absence of the regular in the shortest format while Latham took over the leadership duties in the fifty-overs format. But Kane Williamson took part in the training session and is in line to return to action, confirmed stand-in head coach Shane Jurgenson.

“He certainly had a full workout and all is on track for tomorrow. He’s looking good to be ready to play. We’ll have one final look at him in the morning and make sure nothing happens overnight,” New Zealand stand-in head coach Shane Jurgensen said on the eve of third ODI.

Meanwhile, New Zealand have already sealed the series and will look to experiment with their squad. However, they are marred with injuries with Mitchell Santner and Scott Kuggleijn down with health issues. Tim Southee is also suffering from viral fever but battled his way out to deliver a match-winning spell in the second match.

Apart from Kane Williamson, Ish Sodhi and Blair Tickner have also been added to New Zealand’s squad for the third ODI.
