Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor unveiled the ICC World T20 trophies which are set to take place next year in Australia. At an event in Melbourne, she spoke on how she has a connection with cricket and what makes her feel proud.
“I am honored to be a part of this prestigious evening. I would like to encourage all these women out there who are playing for their respective countries to pursue their dreams. It is truly empowering to see them stand tall on an international platform“, said Kareena.
“Women are an inspiration to one and all. My late father-in-law (MAK Pataudi) was one of the greatest cricketers who played for the Indian cricket team and it is an honor for me to be unveiling the trophy”, added Kareena at the event.
It is to be noted that Australia will be hosting both the men and omen’s editions next year. The women’s tournament will be played from February 21st while Men’s tournament will commence on October 18.
Australia, the home advantage
The Kangaroos haven’t won the T20 trophy since its inception in 2007. With the series being played at home next year, it will be interesting how they make the best use of it.
Though the last three editions of the World Cup were favorable to the hosts, the trends are different in T20’s. No host country has won the T20 trophy till now. Will the same trend continue?
On the other hand, the Indian side will play a handful of T20’s just before the season. The side is focussed on building a young and dynamic team for the tournament. All eyes on how will things shape up in the time frame available.
