Kavya Maran Reacts To Viral Memes From SRH IPL Matches

SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) co-owner Kavya Maran recently opened up about her match-time expressions turning into viral memes on social media, months after the conclusion of the 2025 IPL season. Known as one of the most recognizable figures among IPL franchise owners, the 32-year-old often captures attention with her visible emotions during both home and away games.

Although SRH won the IPL title in 2016, the team has faced challenges in recent seasons, managing to reach the playoffs just once in the last five years. Still, Kavya has remained a consistent presence in the stands, closely following the team and often engaging with players.

Speaking to Fortune India in a recent interview, Kavya addressed the online buzz around her viral reactions during matches (via Inside Sport):

“Those are my raw emotions that you’re seeing because my job has brought me to the point that I have to put myself out there. In Hyderabad, I can’t do anything; I have to sit there. That’s the only place I can sit. But even when I go to Ahmedabad or Chennai, and I’m sitting many feet away, somewhere in the box, the cameraman manages to find me. So, I understand how it becomes memes.”

“I Truly Express What I Feel” – Kavya Maran Opens Up

Kavya Maran shared that she feels a deep connection with both SunRisers teams in the IPL and SA20. In addition to owning SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL, she also co-owns SunRisers Eastern Cape (SEC) in the SA20 league. The SA20 team has seen great success, winning the championship in its first two seasons (2023 and 2024) and finishing as runners-up in 2025.

“When it comes to Sunrisers, I genuinely wear my heart on my sleeve. I think when you put your heart and soul into something, you naturally tend to get very personally attached to its successes and failures,” said Kavya (via the aforementioned source).
