The assistant coach for India, Ryan ten Doeschate, has stated that he wants to see the team’s hitters develop into the finest spin bowlers in the world.

His remarks were made after India faced dismal results with Sri Lankan spinners during their last ODI series in Colombo, where they went down with figures of 0-2 as they suffered the worst defeat ever. It was during this series that this weakness of the unit batting against spin was brought forth by Sri Lankan spinners’ impeccable performances against them.

Ten Doeschate seeks to strengthen the group’s abilities and counter spin tactics in order to overcome this shortcoming. In order to succeed against spin bowling and ultimately become the best in the world, he wants the hitters to acquire the skills and self-assurance necessary.

For India to succeed in international cricket, especially in subcontinental circumstances where spin is a major factor, this objective is imperative. The team will benefit greatly from Ten Doeschate’s emphasis on spin bowling.

“The focus has moved to do well in Australia the team”- Ryan ten Doeschate

The assistant coach for the Indian men’s team, Ryan ten Doeschate, expressed his desire to make the hitters in the present lineup the finest spin bowlers in the world.

“One of the challenges I wasn’t expecting and I kind of overlooked is the playing of spin by Indian batters. We got undone in Sri Lanka. The mindset of India has been such that they’ve been so desperate to do well overseas.” Ryan ten Doeschate said.

“The focus has moved to doing well in Australia, England (so) that we’ve kind of let playing spin, which was always a strength of the Indian team, fall back a little bit. That’s one thing I’m looking forward to helping with, getting to that position where Indians are the best players of spin in the world again,” said ten Doeschate, the former Netherlands captain, to TalkSport Cricket.

Ten Doeschate is the second assistant coach behind Abhishek Nayar in the Gautam Gambhir-led India men’s coaching staff.
