Kevin Pietersen says NO to PSL in Pakistan

Kevin Pietersen the right-hand batsmen and England cricket stalwart in the past has been playing for various T20 sides around the world across different leagues after his days as an English international cricketer got over.

In the ongoing Pakistan Super League as well, Kevin has been seen playing for Quetta Gladiators.

Ex England star though, has ruled out the chance of playing in Pakistan, even if his team qualifies for the final stages of the ongoing season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

This year, two of the three play-offs are scheduled to be played in Lahore, and the final due at the historic National Stadium in Karachi on March 25. However, KP has given a red signal about him playing in Pakistan, even if his team manages to reach that far in the T20 tournament.

During a recent post-match press conference, KP was asked the question whether he would like to travel to Pakistan or not and before the journalist could even complete his question, he answered in negative and shaken his head in denial.

Before the commencement of the league, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi had conveyed his wish that he hopes in 2019, the entire tournament will be played at Pakistan.

The PCB chairman had reiterated then, “That will pave the way for a full series in Pakistan by a top team. We are very satisfied that PSL has become an international brand in two years,”.

A big overseas cricket star like KP denying to travel to Pakistan is a big blow to this wish, though.

Really, if PSL wants to move further as a league and mark its stamp on the market, then it has to be played completely in Pakistan and as soon as possible.

For cricket and Pakistan”s sake.
