Kieron Pollard has been handed over the responsibility to lead the West Indies side in the limited-overs. He will now take over from Jason Holder in ODI”s and Carlos Braithwaite in T20I”s respectively.
Ricky Skerritt, The President of Cricket West Indies announced the same in a press conference today. The reason behind the same has been unknown yet. It is assumed that the current dip in the form of the Carribean side in the limited-overs might have forced the new appointment.
Kieron Pollard was almost in and out of the West Indies side for some time now. With this new role, he will now have a great challenge to take the side ahead.
The side hasn”t performed up to the expectations in the home series against India. Even in the world cup, they failed miserably after their win against Pakistan in the first game. The board will be hoping for a change in fortunes after this appointment.
Kieron Pollard and his next assignment
Pollard”s captaincy stint begins from the series against Afghanistan in India. The sides will be playing three-match T20I and ODI series at Dehradun in the month of November.
Further developments on the news are awaited.
