KKR CEO Dismisses The Viral Conversation Between Rohit Sharma And Abhishek Nayar As ‘Mischief’

Kolkata Knight Riders CEO Venky Mysore downplayed the importance of the conversation between Rohit Sharma and Abhishek Nayar, which implied it might be the former MI captain’s final season with the franchise.

In a podcast with RevSportz, Mysore clarified the situation, stating that Rohit and Nayar have been good friends for a long time and that the incident was a deliberate attempt to create mischief.

“I didn’t even know about it, I think it’s just a storm in a teacup. They have been good friends since god knows how long and someone has done something there just to create some mischief. I talked to both of them, they were talking about something else. Some people just have too much time on their hands,” he said.

KKR initially shared the video of the conversation on their social media channels but later took it down. This has led to fan speculation about Rohit potentially leaving MI. If he chooses to leave, the question remains: where might he go next?

Although the audio in the video is unclear due to the continuous cheering for Rohit in the background, he can be heard saying:

“Ek ek cheez change ho raha hai… Woh unke upar hai…Jo bhi hai woh mera ghar hai bhai, woh temple jo hai na maine banwaya hai.” The last audible line in the chat is “Bhai mera kya mera to ye last hai”.

Although the rest of the conversation is inaudible, fans quickly speculated that Rohit was discussing the MI captaincy. Some fans even claimed that KKR had deleted the video after posting it on X.

Rohit and Nayar share a long history from their Mumbai domestic cricket days and are good friends. Nayar is also recognized for significantly contributing to Rohit’s return to the Indian team after being left out of the 2011 ODI World Cup.

What Lies Ahead for Rohit and Nayar

Rohit’s longtime friend, Nayar, has played in 3 One Day Internationals and 60 IPL matches. The KKR assistant coach has been part of Mumbai, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Pune Warriors, and Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.

While Nayar-coached KKR was the first team to reach the IPL 2024 playoffs, Rohit’s Mumbai Indians are currently ninth with eight points from 13 games. Kolkata Knight Riders will face Rajasthan Royals on Sunday, and Mumbai Indians will play their final home game against Lucknow Super Giants on Friday.
