The Kolkata Knight Riders today kick off their IPL 2020 campaign against Mumbai Indians. The 2-time IPL champions will be once again this year led by Dinesh Karthik. Ahead of their opening clash, KKR mentor shared the player who can be a reserve all-rounder for Andre Russell.

Recently Hussey interacted with KKR fans on Twitter, where one the fans asked him, who can be a backup all-rounder for Russell this year. The KKR mentor had two names in mind out of which one is a promising Indian player.

Hussey took the name of Chris Green as possible back-up for Russell then further also praised Kamlesh Nagarkoti. He stated that Nagarkoti is an exciting and competitive all-around player that will have a role to play for KKR this year.

Nagarkoti Can Do Amazing Things On Field- David Hussey

“I like Nagarkoti as back up all-rounder. He is talented, athletic, can do amazing things on the field. He is an India U19 champion. An all-round ripping kid. He tries hard and one of his best attributes is that he competes”, the former Australian cricketer said.

Meanwhile, Russell has undoubtedly been KKR’s most valuable player in the last few years. He has often made the difference with both bat and ball in the IPL for his franchise.

In the previous edition of the IPL, Russell scored 510 runs at an average of over 50 and a strike rate of 204.8. He also contributed with the ball in almost every KKR match and picked 11 wickets last season.

Furthermore, Russell is today widely regarded as one of the best T20 all-rounders in the world. However, in recent times his form has been up and down which will be a cause of worry for the KKR franchise.

The KKR side this year is touted to be as one of the strongest in the competition. Apart from Russell, they will bank on their other foreign players the likes of Pat Cummins, Sunil Narine and Eoin Morgan throughout IPL 2020.
