Indian National Cricket Team opener KL Rahul has witnessed enough lows and highs in his short international career. However, every time he has touched the downfalls, the stylish batsman has come back stronger than before. Recently, Rahul, who will lead Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League (IPL), opened up on how he deals with criticisms.

After an emphatic start to his career, Rahul reached the high during 2016-17 season. He registered his highest Test score (199 vs England in Chennai), and also played some crucial knocks at the top-order. He soon dethroned Shikhar Dhawan from the top-order and took his spot.

However, this rise was equally matched with lows in his career and he received glaring criticisms from all fronts. His rock bottom came during the 2018-19 tour of Australia. KL Rahul failed to put runs on the board and the management left him out the side. He was also scrapped from the limited-overs team for his controversial statements in the talk show.

Speculations rose on his career, but the Karnataka batsman held his nerve. He concentrated on his game and batted for hours with his friends to change his technique, and the results were out for everyone to see. KL Rahul had an excellent time in the World Cup and since then, he has not looked back.

2020 in particular was spectacular from Rahul’s perspective. He dethroned Rishabh Pant to be the first choice wicket-keeper batsman. Meanwhile, both the highs and lows – both didn’t deter KL Rahul and he didn’t seem bothered by the noise surrounding him.

“No matter what I am doing. I have always been determined to be the best version of myself, physically and mentally. Shut out the noise. Doubts? Question marks? We all face them, and I am no different. But what matters is how we react to them,” KL Rahul said.
