Punjab Kings skipper KL Rahul successfully underwent his appendicitis operation on Monday. He is likely to join the squad after his quarantine period id over as per reports in ESPN Cricinfo. KL Rahul was hospitalised with acute appendicitis, the franchise confirmed on Sunday afternoon., a few hours before Punjab’s match against Delhi Capitals. Mayank Agarwal led Punjab in the game in Rahul’s absence.
The 29-year-old complained of severe abdomen pain last night and didn’t respond to medication. Following which he was admitted to a hospital. He had last played on April 30, where his unbeaten 91 was the backbone of the Kings’ victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
KL Rahul has scored 331 runs from seven games so far in the tournament with a strike rate of 136.21, including four half-centuries. his IPL franchise would ideally hope for Rahul’s speedy recovery so that he can join the squad at the earliest, as they look to lift themselves into the top four in the second half of the group games. Currently, they sit sixth on the table, with three wins in eight games.

KL Rahul Undergoes Successful Surgery
Punjab Kings came out with an official statement on Rahul’s health condition before their match against Delhi Capitals.
“KL Rahul complained of a severe abdomen pain last night and after not responding to medication, he was taken to the emergency room for further tests which revealed that he was diagnosed with acute appendicitis. It will be resolved surgically and for safety measures he has been transferred to the hospital for the same.” Punjab Kings wrote in a tweet.

Meanwhile, Mayank Agarwal scored a 99* in a losing cause in his first game as captain against Delhi Capitals. The Kings posted 166 for 6 in their 20 overs which was chased in a canter by Delhi with 14 balls to spare. Shikhar Dhawan’s 69* led them to a seven-wicket win.
