Kohli, Pant Named In DDCA Probables For Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26

Team India’s star batter Virat Kohli is expected to represent Delhi in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26. The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) has released a list of 50 probables for the 50-over domestic tournament, confirming that Kohli and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant will be part of the squad.

The selection meeting took place on Wednesday, December 10, attended by selectors Yashpal Singh, K. Bhaskar Pillai, Manu Nayar, head coach Sarandeep Singh, CAC chairman Vijay Dahiya, and secretary Ashok Sharma. Sharing an update on Kohli and Pant’s involvement in the tournament, the DDCA stated in its official announcement:

“The list of probables includes the players selected for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy squad. Additionally, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant will be joining the team for the Vijay Hazare Trophy.”

Kohli now features only in one international format—ODIs. The former India skipper stepped away from T20Is following India’s 2024 T20 World Cup victory and announced his retirement from Test cricket earlier this year in May.

How many games Kohli and Pant eventually take part in during the tournament is still uncertain. Delhi will begin their Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign on December 24 against Andhra. They are grouped in Pool D with Railways, Andhra, Haryana, Gujarat, Saurashtra, Services, and Odisha.

Kohli’s dominant form powers India to IND vs SA 2025 ODI series win

Virat Kohli most recently featured in India’s home ODI series against South Africa, where he delivered exceptional performances and was awarded Player of the Series after India clinched the contest 2-1. He began the series with a brilliant 135 off 120 balls in Ranchi, setting the tone early.

Kohli followed it up with another century in Raipur, scoring 102 from 93 deliveries, though it came in a losing effort. In the final ODI at Visakhapatnam, he stayed unbeaten on 65 off 45 balls. Overall, he amassed an impressive 302 runs in three innings.

India’s upcoming ODI challenge will be a three-match home series against New Zealand, with the opener scheduled in Vadodara on January 11.
