The Indian side is now all set for its next assignment, the all-format tour of West Indies. While the focus now shifts towards this series, the memories of semifinal exit are still fresh in the minds of a lot of cricket enthusiasts. A lot of experts and analysts are still discussing what went wrong in the chase
of 240 and how a dismal top-order display led to such heartbreaking results.
For the first time, Indian skipper Virat Kohli spoke about how such setbacks always remain a part of his learning curve and makes him a better person. In an interview to TOI, he was seen saying “I have learnt most in my life from failures and setbacks. The worst setbacks have not only motivated me but also
improved me as a person, made me understand the importance of those times more than the success.”
Kohli also said that such setbacks help to build character. He also said that when a team is outplayed by the opposition, there isn”t much the side can do other than a quick recovery for the next game. “Most importantly, it builds your character because suddenly this thing happens. When your belief is right up
there and everyone”s playing so well, and suddenly, you know, you”ve been outplayed. It”s very difficult to digest because you know you didn”t make many mistakes to be knocked out “, said Kohli.
He had a lot of praise for the youngsters who are currently changing the brand of cricket. Speaking on Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and Shubhman Gill, he is extremely proud that their successful IPL stints have now made them enhance their skillsets. He is sure that they will be able to show that positive intent while representing the senior side and that would certainly help the development of Indian cricket.
Speaking on the ICC test championship which commences with the upcoming series for the Indian side,
Kohli said that it would be one of the “right things” happened to preserve the longest formats of the game. He couldn”t control his excitement for the same and said that the side is ready for challenges.
Though there were reports that Kohli would be rested for the tour on account of his “hectic schedule” , he is now back to lead the side for the entire tour. Can we see him adding another feather to his cap by winning the series? Only time will tell
