The BCCI included KL Rahul in the Indian Test squad which has been announced for the Australia tour starting next month. The selection of Rahul did not go well with former Indian batsman Sanjay Manjrekar who believes that KL was recalled into the Test squad after his consistent failures.
He further said that this would send a wrong message to the Ranji players who are waiting to get a chance to make it through to the Indian squad. His opinion was lashed out at by former Indian skipper Kris Srikkanth, who said that he was getting personal with Rahul’s selection.
Kris Srikkanth Slams Sanjay Manjrekar
He said that Manjrekar cannot see beyond Mumbai and he is limited for selection only to his state side.
“Sanjay Manjrekar cannot think beyond Bombay. That’s the problem. We are talking neutral. Manjrekar cannot think beyond Bombay. For people like Manjrekar, everything is Bombay, Bombay and Bombay. They have to think beyond Bombay,” Srikkanth said on his Youtube channel.
He further backed KL Rahul’s stats in the format reminding his viewers of his first Test hundred in Adelaide back in 2014.
“He might have been inconsistent but the same KL Rahul made his debut in Australia and made a century. He’s a good player of fast bowling. Let’s understand, he’s a very good player of fast bowling,” he said.

Kris Srikkanth further said that Sanjay Manjrekar was talking all rubbish regarding Rahul’s selection and h does not support his stand on this.
“Leave Sanjay Manjrekar alone, he doesn’t have any other job. Questioning KL Rahul’s selection in Tests? He has played well in Tests. I won’t agree at all. Just because Sanjay wants to question something, I don’t think I’ll agree. You shouldn’t question something just to create a controversy. KL Rahul has done brilliantly in all formats. Go through his Test record. What Sanjay Manjrekar is talking is all rubbish. I’ll not agree” said the former Indian skipper.
KL Rahul has led a huge turnaround for Kings XI Punjab in the IPL winning their last five matches. Rahul is also leading the run-scoring chart at the moment with 595 runs from 12 matches.
