Former India cricketer Kris Srikkanth had a mixed experience during his stint as the chief selector of the national team. The Men in Blues ended their 28-year-long drought winning the World Cup in 2011 while he was at the helm of the selection panel. Recently, Srikkanth revealed his three top picks as the chief of the selection committee.

Speaking in Star Sports’ Show Cricket Connected, the former India cricketer shed light on his career a selector. Kris Srikkanth named Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Murali Vijay as his top three picks as the national selector. While the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh, and Virender Sehwag groomed them but it under Srikkanth, they made their debut.

“Virat Kohli, R Ashwin, Murali Vijay are my top picks as a selector, the way they grew and were groomed, I’m really proud of,” Srikkanth stated.

Current India skipper Virat Kohli has been the highlight which Kris Srikkanth labels as his achievement, having backed him during his initial days. Kohli has taken the world by storm with his consistency scoring runs across all the format. The modern-day great is the only cricketer to average more than 50 in all the three formats.

The off-spinner from Tamil Nadu Ravichandran Ashwin also made his debut under Srikkanth in 2010. Ashwin has gone on to become one of the best spinners in the business and has featured in 111 ODIs and 71 Tests. He has played a significant role in India’s dominant run in red-ball cricket picking 365 wickets at an average of 25.43.

On the other hand, Murali Vijay also had a huge impact on the Indian team in Test cricket. While Vijay may not find himself back in the Indian side, Kohli and Ashwin have cemented their spot in the side.
