Kuldeep Yadav Contribution With Bat And Ball Against Bangladesh On 2nd Day

Kuldeep Yadav showed his class with both bat and ball to put India in a commanding position on the 2nd day of the 1st Test match played at Zahur Chaudhary Stadium, Chattorgam on 15 December 2022.

Starting on the overnight score of 278 for 6, India lost an early wicket to Shreyas Iyer with a beauty by Ebadot Hossain. Kuldeep Yadav came to the crease and looked solid against the pacers as well as spin bowlers of Taijul Ahmed and other Bangladesh bowlers. After the lunch break, Kuldeep Yadav showed intent along with Ravichandran Ashwin.

Kuldeep Yadav was immediately dismissed for a career-best knock of 40. Kuldeep and Ravichandran Ashwin put on 92 runs for the 9th wicket. The Indian team posted a decent total of 404 runs as Umesh Yadav hit lusty blows.

India got off to a perfect start as Mohammed Siraj dismissed Shanto off the very first ball. Umesh Yadav then dismissed Yasir Ali to leave Bangladesh in trouble. Liton Das and debutant Zakir Hossain steadied the ship helping the hosts end session 2 at 37 for 2.

Kuldeep Yadav put pressure on the Bangladesh batters right from ball one. He got rid of Bangladesh captain Shakib AL Hasan with a lovely delivery caught by Kohli at slips. Kuldeep troubled Nurul Hasan with his variations and eventually got him with a reaction catch by Shubman Gill at short leg.

He then got wickets of experienced Mushfiqur Rahim and then Taijul Islam in the same over to leave Bangladesh struggling at 102 for 8. Kuldeep Yadav troubled Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Ebadot Hossain. It was a remarkable effort as India ended the 2nd day in a commanding position as Bangladesh reached 133 for 8.

Kuldeep Yadav was playing his first Test match after February 2021. He was bought into the playing XI along with Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin for the opening Test match. At end of day 2, Kuldeep ended with figures of 4 for 33 and left Bangladesh in dire straits.
