Kyle Jamieson will be playing for the marquee Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2021. RCB acquired the New Zealand all-rounder for a mind-boggling Rs.15 crores. Yesterday Jamieson recorded the second-highest figure of the IPL auction and became the most expensive Kiwi player in IPL history.

Since making his debut for NZ in international cricket Jamieson has made an instant impact with both bat and ball. 1. Kyle Jamieson is 6ft 8 inches tall and is the second tallest player playing cricket currently behind Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Irfan.

2. The 26-year-old made his first-class debut for Canterbury against Wellington way back in 2014. It wasn’t a successful debut for him as he bowled 30 overs and couldn’t pick a wicket and also was dismissed for a duck.

3. Kyle Jamieson made his Test debut against India early in 2020. He made the headlines when he dismissed Virat Kohli cheaply. Jamieson will be now playing under Kohli in the upcoming IPL 2021 season.

4. Cricket is in Kyle Jamieson’s blood as his father also played domestic cricket in NZ. His dad Michael Jamieson was a premier batsman for Papatoetoe.

5. Jamieson represented New Zealand in the U-19 world cup in 2014.

6. Jamieson was in the Auckland Grammar first XI for three years playing in the top order. He moved to Christchurch on a Lincoln University scholarship, studying for a Bachelor of Commerce.

7. Jamieson grabbed the attention of the NZ selectors when he smashed a 110 ball century against England in an unofficial game. He scored against the likes of James Anderson, Mark was soon drafted in the national side.

8. RCB coach has always been mighty impressed by the skills Kyle Jamieson possess. In 2019, Hesson made a bold prediction that Jamieson will soon play for New Zealand.

“An impressive bowler who at 6ft 8in can swing it….another one to add to the Black Caps stable”, Hesson had Tweeted.

9. The New Zealand all-rounder so far has been extremely unlucky with injuries. A few years back Jamieson suffered a freakish injury when he broke a foot bone while jogging after a ball in training. He had previously also suffered an ankle stress fracture.

10.  Jamieson’s entry into top-class cricket was guided by Gary Stead, the Canterbury coach who is now in charge of the New Zealand side. His desire to learn and attitude towards the game impressed the NZ coach and he was fast-tracked to international cricket.
