Lasith Malinga to seek advice from This former Indian fast bowler

The Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga was a terror to the batsmen all over the world with his round-arm action bowling slower deliveries and toe-crushing yorkers at ease.  However, with age creeping up he has lost his venom and will seek advice from the Indian legend Zaheer Khan to regain his form.

Malinga met with his former Mumbai Indians teammate Zaheer Khan who is currently in Sri Lanka for a commentary stint and discussed the individual transition from a quick bowler to a seam and swing bowler. Malinga also admitted that he wants to play till 2023 World Cup.

The 34-year-old pacer is forced change his bowling style with age being an important factor. The veteran pacer on his chat with Zaheer said, “Zaheer is more of a seam and swing bowler, and I want to learn more of that kind of thing over the next few years. That’s what I discussed with him,”

Malinga also mentioned that he has always looked upon his journey as a learning process. “He (Zaheer) is a legend of the Indian bowling attack in previous years. We always talk with so many bowlers around the world. When I meet them, I want to get their experiences also. Because they are in the commentary box, they look at every single one of my body movements and my bowling action, and how I swing the ball. They have a good idea of how I’m going now. Then, every time I have an opportunity, we speak about my bowling action, and how I have to improve,” the stand-in captain of Sri Lankan team further added.

After returning to international cricket after a long gap, Malinga is taking everything steps by step. His primary target was to complete his quota of 10 overs. He now feels comfortable doing that. He admitted that he has not set any special goal for himself instead he wants to focus more of the transition which can keep him in the top tier of international cricket.
