Before we go deep into the facts we want you to know about what exactly the term LBW defines. If a batsman misses the ball and then it hits his leg which is in-line with the stumps then the batsman can be given out.
Point to be noted is that the ball should not hit the ground outside the leg stump and also it shouldn’t have touched the bat before hitting his leg which is in-line with the stumps. Only then the batsman is said to be out for LBW.

Shocked? Obviously, anyone would be shocked. Yes, it’s true. Sachin Tendulkar, the former Indian Cricketer, is on the top of the list for the most number of LBW dismissals. He has been dismissed for an LBW for 51 times on the field. He is one of the greatest batsmen of all time known for his brilliant batting techniques and handsome shots. The fact that a player, who holds innumerable batting records, also holds a record for highest number of LBW dismissals sounds unbelievable.
- GRAHAM GOOCH
Graham Gooch, the former English Cricketer, is one of the renowned batsmen of all time. Though he was banned for a span of three years, he was still the second highest run scorer for England in tests. This shows what a prolific run scorer he was. Despite being one of the greatest batsmen, he is positioned number second on this list and was out for LBW for 50 times on the field.
- GRAEME SMITH
Graeme Smith is a former South African Cricketer. As of February 2013, Smith is the fastest South African cricketer to reach 1000 test runs and also holds the record for most number of centuries (15) by a captain in test match victories. He stands on number 3 on this LBW list and is dismissed for an LBW for 44 times in cricket history.
Alastair Cook, currently playing for England, is a left-handed opening batsman for England and is a renowned as the most successful batsman ever to play for England. He is the youngest player (from any country) to score 7,000, 8,000, 9,000, 10,000 and 11,000 runs in Test cricket. He has been dismissed for an LBW for 41 times and is at number 4 on this list as of now (September 2017).

Ricky Ponting, the former Australian Cricketer, is renowned as the Cricketer of the decade 2000.He holds the record for scoring the most number of runs in One Day Internationals as captain (8497).He has been dismissed for an LBW for 41 times in the history of International Cricket.
Younis Khan, the former Pakistani Cricketer, is regarded as one of the best batsmen to play for Pakistan. He has captained his team across all the formats and has been a legendary cricketer in the international history of test cricket. On 23 April 2017, he became the first Pakistani and 13th ever batsmen to score 10,000 plus runs in Test cricket. He was out for LBWs for 40 times on the field and thus he is on this list.
Jacques Kallis is a former South African cricketer. He was named as Leading Cricketer in the whole world in 2008 Wisden and was also awarded the ICC Test Player of the Year in 2005. He is one of the few test cricketers to have a batting average over 50 and exceeds bowling average by 20 or more in test cricket. He has been dismissed for an LBW for 40 times.

Alec Stewart is a former English Cricketer. He was the highest run scorer in the world in the period of 1990s.His LBW dismissals count is 40 and he shares the record with Jacques and Younis.
- SHIVNARINE CHANDERPAUL
Shivnarine Chanderpaul is a former Guyanese international West Indian cricketer. He is well known for his unorthodox batting stance. He was named as the ICC Player of the year in 2008. He is applauded as one of the greatest batsmen of all time. He has been dismissed for an LBW for 38 times in his term of play.

Brian Lara is a former West Indian player. He holds innumerable cricketing records. Muttiah Muralitharan, rated as the best test match bowler ever, has hailed Lara as his toughest opponent. On 26 November 2005, he became the all-time leading run scorer in Test cricket and the record was later surpassed by Sachin Tendulkar on 17 October 2008. He was dismissed for an LBW for 37 times in his term of play.
