Sanju Samson has admirably captained Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024. Under his leadership, the Royals currently hold the second position in the points table. Samson himself has been in excellent form, tallying 471 runs in 11 matches and ranking fifth in the list of top run-scorers.
Samson is just 14 runs shy of surpassing his personal best tally in an IPL season, which was 484 runs achieved in IPL 2021. His average (67.29) and strike rate (163.54) this year are already his best in a single edition.
The Royals are set to encounter defending champions Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk in a day game on Sunday, and if Samson’s team emerges victorious, they will secure a spot in the playoffs.
Prior to the match, the tournament’s official broadcaster released a video featuring Samson discussing the intense competitiveness of the IPL and underscoring the significance of staying focused on the present moment.
Samson says in the video, “I don’t think like that, that we have to win this time or not win this time. I am not at all a person who is much worried about the results.”
“You know if you look at the ten teams, each and every team can win this IPL. So, I would like to respect all the teams, I would like to respect ourselves and then just go and play the best cricket we can and then we’ll see”
“Last time we won 5 out of 6 matches but even then we didn’t qualify. So that keeps on happening in the IPL. So it’s very important to be humble, very important to be in the moment and take care of what you have in your hands,” Samson adds.
