Manoj Tiwary Slams Kolkata Knight Riders For An ‘Insulting Tweet’

On 27th May 2012, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) clinched their first title in the Indian Premier League. The Shah Rukh Khan owned franchise defeated Chennai Super Kings in their den to lift the coveted trophy. KKR chased down the mammoth 191 runs target on the back of Manvinder Bisla’s 89 runs. Manoj Tiwary hit the winning runs as Kolkata Knight Riders made history at Chepauk.

To celebrate the 8th anniversary of their first title win, the KKR franchise posted a tweet for fans on social media platforms. The franchise asked the supporters about their favourite memories of the 2012 IPL edition.

In the tweet, various KKR players were mentioned that were part of that triumph. Players such as the title-winning captain Gautam Gambhir, the man of the match of final Bisla, Brendon McCullum, Sunil Narine and various others. However, Manoj Tiwary did not find that tweet appropriate as the Kolkata franchise failed to tag him in the post.

Tiwary immediately replied to it and tweeted, “Yes, I along with others have too many memories that will remain forever but after seeing this tweet where you forgot to mention and tag me and @Sah75official (Shakin-al-Hassan) is insulting and this morning tweet of yours will remain close to every Knight Rider’s heart”, #dissapointed.

The Bengal batsman played an instrumental role in KKR’s success in that season. Batting in the middle order, Manoj Tiwary scored 260 runs in the season that included a half-century. KKR later responded to the tweet of Tiwary and said,

“No way Manoj, We would never miss tagging such a special ‘Knight’ to our special night. You were, and always will be a hero of that 2012 victory”.
