Mayank Yadav’s Injury Delays His IPL 2025 Return

Mayank Yadav, known for his blistering pace of 156.7 kmph in the IPL, suffered a new injury just before Lucknow Super Giants‘ (LSG) opening match against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025. The young pacer, who has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, was on the path to recovery from a back injury that had kept him out since his appearance in India’s T20I against Bangladesh in October last year.

However, LSG coach Justin Langer revealed that Mayank accidentally hurt his toe by kicking the bed, which led to an infection. As a result, his return to the field has been delayed by another two weeks. Despite this setback, Langer mentioned that Mayank is progressing well and is back to bowling, with the franchise receiving regular updates through videos. LSG fans will have to wait longer to see their pace sensation back in action, possibly toward the latter part of the tournament.

LSG’s Bowling Woes Continue

LSG’s struggles are not limited to Mayank Yadav’s absence. The team is facing a shortage of first-choice pacers ahead of their crucial clash against Delhi Capitals. Mohsin Khan, who was undergoing rehab for an earlier injury, has now been ruled out for the entire season due to a calf injury. To fill the gap, Shardul Thakur has been brought in as his replacement.

Avesh Khan, another key pacer, is currently under observation and is expected to undergo a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to determine if he is ready to play. Akash Deep, another fast-bowling option, is gradually regaining fitness and is bowling at about 90% intensity. He has also cleared his yo-yo fitness test, indicating that he is close to making a full recovery.

Hope for a Strong Comeback

Despite the current setbacks, LSG remains optimistic about the return of its key pacers, including Mayank Yadav, by the latter part of the IPL 2025 season. Justin Langer expressed confidence in Mayank’s progress and highlighted that the pacer is making steady improvements.

Similarly, the management is hopeful that Avesh Khan and Akash Deep will regain full fitness soon, which will strengthen the team’s bowling lineup. As the tournament progresses, LSG fans can expect to see a more balanced and formidable pace attack, provided the injured players recover in time.
