MCL: Dada is back on the cricket field and so is Dadagiri: One-time skipper Sourav Ganguly was on Tuesday named the captain and ambassador of Libra Legends in the advancing Masters Champions League on Tuesday which is to be played in Dubai and Sharjah from January 28 to February 13.
Ganguly will escort a team from the front having the likes of all-rounder Jacques Kallis, left-arm spinner Nicky Boje, off-spinner Graeme Swann, Shaun Tait, Brad Hogg, all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate among others.
Exhilerated to lead the side, Ganguly said: “A team which has Kallis and Swann has to be good. There”re a lot of current players in my team. So it will be good. It”s a good team. It will be fun.
“We have to find the right combination. We”ve Michael Lumb who”s an opener. Kallis obviously will not open. All teams are good. Hope I reach the roof this time,” Ganguly said in a lighter vein.
The God of offside played some entertaining cricket for Sachin Blasters in the three-match series against (Shane) Warne”s Warriors at the Cricket All Stars in the USA.
Ganguly who scored a half-century in the Cricket All Stars in November last year, said he was astonished the way he played.
“I looked at the boundary and told myself, “Jesus! The boundary looks big, can I clear it…” But when I started hitting strokes it did not feel I had not stopped playing. I was surprised,” he said.
For the fans, its that moment once again to re-live the aggressive dada style of captaincy where Sourav will once again bring the best out of his players. Ganguly has always been known for walking the talk in the middle and once again dada fans will anticipcate the same old dada moment which catapulted Indian cricket to where it is today.
Trained by former India pacer Abey Kuruvilla, the team will also have the fine likes of Ryan Sidebottom, Michael Lumb, Ian Butler, Sean Ervine and Taufeeq Umar.
MCL is a good abstract that takes the legends of the game back into business in a T20 array as close to 250 players who have resigned from all arrays of International cricket were sold at auction to be part of one of the six franchises in MCL.
