Michael Hussey recently showered praise on England batter Dawid Malan, saying that he is in the league of Virat Kohli and Babar Azam. The southpaw has been in excellent form as England thrashed Australia 2-0 in the three-match T20I series, with the last game being washed out due to rain.

Malan has held England’s batting tightly from one end and has accelerated as and when required. He will be to his side’s plan going into the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Michael Hussey, who is part of England’s coaching set-up for the T20 World Cup, presented a special cap to Dawid Malan, who recently played his 50th T20I.

“I honestly believe this guy can be in the same conversation when we start talking about the best players in the world,” Hussey was quoted as saying by Fox Sports.

“We start talking about (Virat) Kohli, Steve Smith, Kane Williamson, and Joe Root gets floated around. I think if he can start putting together some big hundreds like this in the Test arena, he’s that good. He’s a brilliant, brilliant player,” he added.

David Malan’s 82-run knock in 49 balls helped England take a 2-0 lead in the series with an 8-run triumph in the second T20I. Due to Friday’s rain, the third and final game of the series was cancelled (October 14).

“I hope you have a World Cup winning medal” – Michael Hussey on Dawid Malan

Adding further, Michael Hussey stated that he hopes that Dawid Malan caps of the special year winning the T20 World Cup title in a month’s time.

“But as Jos consistently said throughout this tour, so far we’ve got to keep looking forward, we’ve got to keep playing what’s in front of us. And I certainly hope over the next nine or ten games or whatever it is you have plenty more individual success but more importantly I hope you have a World Cup winning medal around your neck in about a month of time,” Hussey added.

England will begin their T20 World Cup campaign against Afghanistan on October 22 at Perth.
