Mithali Raj will Lead Indian Team For Australia Series; New Venue For ODI Series

All India women”s selection committee of the BCCI has announced their squad for India”s upcoming ODI international series to be played versus Australia.

The legend Mithali Raj will once lead the team, while Haramanpreet Kaur is the vice-captain for the series. Veteran speedster Jhulan Goswami, who is the highest wicket-taker in women’s ODIs won’t be a part of the team owing to an injury

The Indian team has seen some really good performances of late in limited overs cricket. After reaching a world cup final in England in 2017, they went on to beat Southafrica in both the ODI & the T20I series there which are historic results.

These come on the back of a lot of talent coming through the ranks for India”s women”s international side.

Also, India clearly sent a message across that their performance in that works cup wasn”t just a once in a blue moon kind of result by reiterating their status with the brand of cricket played in southafrica.

The ODI series against Australia will also be part of the ICC women”s ODI championship tournament from 2017-2021 leading up to the world cup in 2021. A top four end in the league will mean a direct place in that world cup without having to go through the qualifiers.

The ODI series starting on Tuesday hence, is very important.

All the three games will be played in Vadodara.

Selectors also expressed they are likely to be consistent with the squad even for the upcoming T20I tri-series against Australia & England and for the ODI series versus England as well.

We wish the Indian team all the luck.
