The Indian women’s team cruised to an easy 52 runs over Ireland in their third Group B match played at Providence Stadium, Guyana just finished a few minutes ago. Both of them played positive strokes putting pressure on Ireland bowlers. At end of 6 overs, India scored 42 for 0. After the power play overs, both openers continued to score runs. Smriti Mandhana was dismissed for 33 off 29 balls. Both Mandhana and Raj added 67 runs for the opening wicket in 10 overs.
Mithali Raj and Rodrigues put on 40 runs for the 2nd wicket. The Indian eves lost wickets at regular intervals. Raj reached her 17th T20I half-century off 54 balls. After a great start, India posted 145 for 6 in 20 overs. For Ireland, KJ Garth took 2 for 22 while Richardson, O Reilly and Delany took 1 wicket each.

Chasing the target of 146 runs to win, Ireland openers Shillington and Lewis started on a positive note adding 27 runs for the opening wicket. Deepti Sharma struck to dismiss Lewis for 9 runs. Shillington scored 23 off 23 balls but was stumped by Poonam Yadav. The Indian spinners choked the Ireland batters. Joyce was the top scorer with 33 runs. India restricted Ireland to 93 for 8 in 20 overs. For India, Radha Yadav took 3 for 25, Deepti Sharma 2 for 15, Poonam Yadav 1 for 14, Harmanpreet Kaur 1/10.

With this win, India progressed through to the semi-finals for the first time since 2010. Their last group match will be against Australia on 17th November at Providence Stadium, Guyana.
