Mohammad Kaif Pays Tribute To Former India Skipper MS Dhoni

Former India skipper MS Dhoni is one of the most illustrious characters in Indian cricket. His contribution is immense. While the whole world continues to dwell on his retirement, Mohammad Kaif feels he still has a lot to offer. The comments came on the day Indian cricket team celebrated the seventh anniversary of their ICC Champions Trophy win.

The Men in Blues ran down the host in a rain-curtailed encounter to lift the trophy. The win took MS Dhoni to history books as he became the only captain in the history to win three ICC titles. Previously, the wicket-keeper batsman led India to the 2007 World T20 and 2011 World Cup titles.

Posting a picture of MS Dhoni, Mohammad Kaif paid tribute to the legendary cricketer. The former cricketer also hailed Dhoni’s achievement as Indian skipper.

“On this day, 7 years back, MS Dhoni became the first captain to win all three ICC Trophies—Champions Trophy (2013),World Cup(2011) & WT20 (2007).Fine captain & a champion player. One of India’s greatest match-winners. I feel he still has a lot to offer to Indian cricket,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni has been on a sabbatical since India’s lost to New Zealand in the rain-marred semifinal of the ICC World Cup 2019 in England. Incidentally, the legendary wicket-keeper batsman copped severe criticisms for his below-par performances throughout the tournament.

His poor outing with the bat also took a toll on his confidence which in turn affected in wicket-keeping. MS Dhoni was mulling a return during the Indian Premier League (IPL) and had already started his training at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

However, with IPL postponed for an indefinite period due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, his comeback to international cricket looks gloomy. However, Dhoni will play in the IPL for another couple of years.
