Mohammed Shami Resumes Training At NCA, Likely To Return For Third Test vs England

Indian pacer Mohammed Shami who missed the last three Tests against Australia with a wrist injury, has resumed training at the NCA in Bangalore and is likely to make a comeback for the third Test in Ahmedabad. The third Test will be a day-night contest and the first international game of cricket in the newly built Motera stadium in Ahmedabad. Shami had returned home from Australia in December last year with a fractured wrist which he sustained during the first Test of the recently-concluded series down under.

The Indian pacer shared a tweet of his training session, the day the India-England series started on February 5. He has started a ‘low intensity’ training at the NCA.

Mohammed Shami Has  Resumed Training At NCA

“Shami’s forearm is fine right now. He will have some low intensity net sessions for the next few days. He has been advised to bowl around 18 deliveries a day at 50 to 60 percent effort,” a source in the know of things was quoted as saying by PTI.

“Since he has been out for more than month and half, that is how the workload will be build. He is bowling from a shorter run-up, working to get some feel back. By the next week, the training will be of medium intensity and a final call can then be taken if he will be available for selection for the final two Tests in Ahmedabad,” the source added.

The BCCI has announced the squad for the first two Tests in Chennai. Shami if he gets fit by the time the third Test starts will be included in the final two Tests to be played in Ahmedabad.
