“Mr. Tendulkar, Could You Assist Me?” – Former West Indies Pacer Winston Benjamin’s Request To Legendary Cricketer

Former West Indies pacer Winston Benjamin has reached out to cricket icons in India, to assist him in helping grassroots-level cricketers in the Caribbean. Cricket West Indies has been going through financing turmoil for a long time now. It has hampered their cricket at several levels. The instability has also caused tiffs between players and the board. However, things have gotten a bit better in the last few years, but are far from ideal conditions.

During these tough situations, former pacer Winston Benjamin has been working to help the young cricketers in West Indies. He has also requested former cricketers to help him in this cause. In a video on journalist Vimal Kumar’s Youtube channel, Winston expressed that he looking for some help to get cricket equipment for the grassroots-level cricketers in West Indies.

“Previously, we used to have a tournament in Sharjah where it used to be like a benefit game for players from different countries. I don’t want benefits. All I want is for somebody to say ‘here is some equipment’ – 10-15 bats, that is good enough for me. I don’t want 20000 US dollars. I just want some equipment so that I can give back to youngsters. That’s all I am asking,” said Benjamin on Vimal Kumar’s youtube channel.

Former West Indies pacer Winston Benjamin revealed that Mohammad Azharuddin helped with some equipment. He thanked the former Indian skipper for the gesture. Winston Benjamin also requested legendary cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar, to assist him in the betterment of West Indies cricket.

“Mr. Tendulkar… if you are in a position, could you assist me? Hit me up. I would like to thank my good friend Mohammad Azharuddin. He sent me some equipment over. Azhar, congratulations! And thank you so much for that assistance. Stay in touch. Anyone else who wants to contribute, feel free,” said Winston Benjamin.
