The retirement speculation of the former India skipper MS Dhoni has been the talk of the town for quite some time now. He has been on a sabbatical since India’s lost to New Zealand in the rain-marred semifinal of the ICC World Cup 2019 in England. While the speculations continue to grow on his retirement, Piyush Chawla admitted that Dhoni didn’t look rusty at all during the Chennai Super Kings camp.

Meanwhile, Dhoni was mulling a return during the Indian Premier League (IPL) and had already started his training at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. However, with IPL postponed for an indefinite period due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, his comeback looks gloomy.

But Piyush Chawla while recalling CSK days said MS Dhoni looked in full flow with the bat. The veteran spinner said that Dhoni used to smash every ball for six after setting his eyes during the net sessions.

“Honestly speaking, if any cricketers comes after a long break, he will be rusty, but I am sure, he (MSD) was doing some training in Ranchi because when he came to CSK camp, he didn’t look rusty at all.

He will defend for 5-6 balls in the nets and then smack each and every ball for a six,” Chawla said while speaking to Aakash Chopra on his official Youtube channel.

Meanwhile, Piyush Chawla shifted his base to Chennai Super Kings from Kolkata Knight Riders during IPL 2020 auctions. The Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab went into a bidding war before Chennai roping him for Rs 6.75 crore.

Chawla is looking forward to playing the IPL 2020 and is hopeful that BCCI will host the tournament at some point this year.
