MS Dhoni Eyeing 3 Major IPL Records As Chennai Super Kings Face Rajasthan Royals

After a long wait of 437 days, MS Dhoni finally returned to action in the inaugural match of IPL 2020. The return proved to be memorable as his side Chennai Super Kings defeated the Mumbai Indians at Abu Dhabi. Now today, Dhoni’s men will take on the Rajasthan Royals in yet another crucial encounter.

The legendary MS Dhoni is no stranger to breaking records in the IPL. In the last 13 years, we have seen him scale unimaginable heights and create incredible personal milestones. When Dhoni takes the field against RR he will be once again eyeing 3 massive individual records in the IPL.

1. Dhoni is only 5 sixes away from reaching 500 maximums in the IPL. The master finisher has always been known to hit sixes during death overs and entertain everyone when ye plays in the yellow of CSK. If Dhoni reaches 300 sixes in his next match he will join the likes of Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina.

So far in the history of IPL, only Rohit (361 sixes) and Raina (311 sixes) are the only two Indian cricket that has hot more than 300 sixes.

2. Dhoni is the first match of IPL 2020 completed 100 catches both as a wicket-keeper and out-fielder. If he pouches 3 more catches he will go past Raina (102 catches) who currently has the most catches for CSK. Overall Dhoni will be only behind KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik who currently holds the record of most catches in the IPL.

3. Meanwhile behind the stumps only as a wicket-keeper, Dhoni has 96 catches to his name. 4 more snaffles in the match against RR he will complete a century of catches as a WK in IPL matches. If he takes 5 catches in today’s game he will then hold the joint-most record of most catches as WK with Dinesh Karthik (101 catches).

Furthermore, CSK will be looking to dominate the Rajasthan Royals who will be without the services of Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes. RR, on the other hand, will be looking to start their IPL 2020 campaign with a win under Steve Smith. The match will be played at Sharjah cricket stadium and will commence from 7:30 IST.
